Humans yearn to be heard and understood. Yet, though we can speak, we may not know how to communicate skillfully. This course aims to develop communication skills and enhance the health and happiness of the participants. In this eight-week virtual course you will:
• learn how to navigate difficult emotions
• find out how to meet your own needs while respecting others
• practice making positive requests
• explore the art of successful negotiation
• try “re-dos” and “time-outs”
• experience the joy of more positive, smooth, nurturing relationships

Please Note:

This course covers a lot of material. It is highly interactive and skill building. Each session builds on what was covered in previous sessions.  To make the program most beneficial and allow people to share stories in a safe environment, we encourage you to plan on attending each class faithfully.

The group works best when everyone is prepared and focused.  Here are some important ways to prepare for the class:

  • Review and become familiar with the Class syllabus before the first class.
  • Keep your mind open and stay present with the group – avoid distractions
  • We want to feel like a group, so please keep your video on during each class.
  • Please plan to study the material and do the assigned homework before each class,

Finally, knowing how to operate your computer and participate in an online ZOOM class will make participating easier and the class will run smoother. Please call the ARC prior to the first session if you need technical coaching.
