Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Essentials Skills Session – NLH EMPLOYEES ONLY

NRP is divided into two learning levels: Essentials and Advanced, based on the health care team member’s role and responsibilities during newborn resuscitation. Essentials is ideal for ED Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, House supervisors. Advanced is ideal for providers and goes deeper into resuscitations including CPR, UVC placement and Advanced Airways. Any student is welcome to take either level.

After submitting your RSVP here, contact Jessica.Gamboa@NewLondonHospital.org with your NRP associate EMAIL and global ID number to be assigned the required NRP Online modules. The modules are only available for redemption for 24 hours from the time they are assigned or will need to be reassigned.

If you are new to NRP, you will need a new global ID number by registering Create account | AAP NRP – please email your global ID # and associated email address to be assigned the required NRP Online modules.

Students must complete the Online Modules prior to class and must bring either a printed certificate or a photo of their online completion for instructor verification. Students will not be permitted to participate in the skills session without proof of completion.

NRP Essentials will cover:

• Preparation for resuscitation and familiarity with warmer
• Initial steps of newborn care
• Positive Pressure ventilation and CPAP
• Team communication and role clarity

NRP Advanced will cover:

• Everything covered in Essentials
• CPR
• Advanced airways
• UVC placement
• Medications

After completing the in-class skills review and survey/evaluation, students will receive their NRP Provider Card through the NRP Learning Platform which expires after 2 years.
