NRP is divided into two learning levels: Essentials (this class) and Advanced, based on the provider’s role and responsibilities during newborn resuscitation. Essentials is ideal for ED Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, House supervisors and physicians. The Advanced class goes deeper into resuscitations and includes CPR, UVC placement and Advanced Airways.
After submitting your RSVP, contact Jessica.Gamboa@NewLondonHospital.org with your NRP global ID number to be assigned the required NRP Online Essentials modules.
If you are new to NRP, you will need a new global ID number by registering Create account | AAP NRP – please email your global ID # and associated email address to be assigned the required NRP Online Essentials modules.
Students must complete the Online Modules prior to class and must bring either a printed certificate or a photo of their online completion for instructor verification. Students will not be permitted to participate in the skills session without proof of completion.
NRP Essentials will cover:
- Preparation for resuscitation and familiarity with warmer
- Initial steps of newborn care
- Positive Pressure ventilation and CPAP
- Team communication and role clarity
After completing the in-class skills review and evaluation, students will receive their NRP Provider Card through the NRP Learning Platform which expires after 2 years.
