This course is open to all youth interested in childcare and covers how to provide safe care for infants and children, what to do in an emergency, how to choose age-appropriate activities, how to recognize and handle a variety of child behaviors, and different parenting style requests. Upon completion, participants will earn an American Red Cross babysitter certification that does not expire.

Who should sign up?

If you are between 12-17 years old and looking to begin babysitting for your family, neighbors, or as a part-time job, this is a great way to learn the skills needed to help you become a more responsible and safe caregiver! Over the course of this 4-hour training, participants will learn from a certified babysitter course trainer and join other young adults who are beginning their babysitting journey. There will be plenty of time for questions, and you can expect a welcoming, safe learning environment.

Seats will be limited to 13 participants.

What do I need to do to prepare?

On the day of the training, arrive at least five minutes early to sign in. The class will begin promptly at 10 am.
Wear comfortable clothing and bring snacks or lunch as you need (you can eat or drink during the course as needed).

Meet your presenter: Ida Daley, IC&M CPR, LLC

Motivated by her passion for sharing life-saving skills with the community, Ida currently teaches this and many other courses throughout New England. She has devoted the past five years to teaching CPR classes and has also worked as an Early Childhood Educator for 17 years. Ida uses her fields of work and experience to give real-life scenario advice and perspectives.
